Coach Robinson Wins SYSA Boys Coach of the year 2024
Ryan Robinson is the head coach of the McGilvra Panthers, a diverse team that he has helped foster since the kids started playing mod-games at the U7 level. Over the years, Coach Robinson’s players have learned that everyone has a role to play. They’ve learned to hustle back, to leave it on the field, and they’ve learned how to pick themselves up after a tough loss. As the seasons have rolled by, former opponents have been welcomed onto the roster, including rivals from the CH Pirates, CH Blue Bolts, WD Orange Lasers, and even the dreaded Bal Ninja Bunnies.
Coach Robinson is a passionate competitor and former athlete himself and his drive at practice and in the huddle helps inspire outstanding performances from his players. Maybe just as importantly, he models good sportsmanship and respect for opponents and referees. When a player is losing their composure on the field, he subs them off and supports them on the bench. When his team is ahead by a few goals, he pulls his forwards and refocuses the squad on possession and other challenges beyond scoring. His composure and grace has earned him the respect of referees and competitors alike. Beyond his Panthers squad, Coach Robinson also finds time to volunteer with his younger son’s Seattle United team and to play himself, for an adult-league team that he’s helped to organize for many years.
McGilvra Soccer Club is proud of Coach's Robinson for winning 2024 SYSA Boy Coach of the year, we are extremely grateful to have him as coach!
